BMW R20 Concept Unveiled: A Big Boxer Roadster Gets Bold and Pink

BMW Motorrad has unveiled the R20 Concept, a stunning new roadster motorcycle that embodies the brand's commitment to classic design, cutting-edge engineering, and pure motorcycling passion. The R20 concept boasts a powerful and characterful presence, highlighted by its centerpiece: a massive 2,000cc air-cooled Big Boxer engine, the largest ever produced by BMW.

A Masterpiece of Design and Engineering

The R20 concept is a visual treat, with a bold and sculpted silhouette that flows seamlessly from the hand-finished seat to the striking rear end. The centerpiece is the expressive fuel tank, finished in a head-turning "hotter than pink" color that harks back to the 1970s. This progressive color scheme is complemented by polished and anodized aluminum accents on the cylinder head covers, belt cover, and air intake funnels.

The R20 concept is not just about aesthetics; it's a testament to BMW's engineering prowess. The chassis has been completely redesigned, featuring a black double-loop main frame made of chrome-molybdenum steel tubes. The suspension is top-shelf, with fully adjustable Ohlins Blackline components at the front and rear. The braking system is equally impressive, with radially mounted six-piston calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear from ISR.

Big Boxer Power and Sound

The heart of the R20 concept is the air-cooled Big Boxer engine, specifically developed for this concept bike. The increased displacement of 2,000cc promises exhilarating performance, while the new cylinder head covers, belt cover, and oil cooler add a touch of visual intrigue. The exposed driveshaft, a signature element of the R 18 models, has been shortened for a more compact look.
